The Queen of Funk hadn’t graced the Montreux stage in 14 years. Her grand return, opening this year’s Festival, promises to be exceptional in more ways than one: Chaka Khan will celebrate both her 50-year career and the legacy of Quincy Jones in a unique concert tailor-made for Montreux.
The Chicago diva, winner of ten Grammy Awards, has left a lasting mark on the soul and R&B scenes with timeless hits such as “Ain’t Nobody” and “I’m Every Woman.” Throughout her career, she has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, and David Bowie. Yet one of her most iconic collaborations remains with Quincy Jones, who invited her on some of his biggest hits, including “Stuff Like That”. A long-time friend of the Festival, Chaka Khan promises an electrifying evening that will revive the spirit of those legendary concerts “Q” brought to life at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
