Yoa is the meeting of raw poetry and electronic pulses that shake up the codes of French-speaking pop. After starting out in theatre, the Franco-Swiss artist has branched out into music with a series of powerful EPs. Released earlier this year, her very first album, La Favorite, is a vibrant new cry with infectious choruses. Her lyrics act like a truth serum, recounting vulnerability and reconstruction, mental health and sexual violence with the same disarming frankness. On stage, Yoa and her dancers don’t simply offer a concert: each movement, each word, transforms the moment into a true celebration of the senses. This unique presence earned her the title of Révélation Scène [Stage Revelation] at the Victoires de la Musique this year.
