Yilian Cañizares & Resilience Trio
As part of the 60th edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation is pleased to welcome Yilian Canizares to this celebration. She was the 2008 winner of the Audience Award at the Tremplin Lémanique competition, which the MJAF has long organized as part of the Festival.
Yilian Cañizares is one of the most intriguing violinists, singers, and composers on the contemporary scene. Without ever straying from her roots, she blends jazz, classical music, and Afro-Cuban rhythms with a voice that seems to come from another world. Few artists, whether on stage or in the studio, possess as much talent and versatility as Yilian Cañizares, who blends classical virtuosity and jazz sensibility with the sound of her native Havana, Cuba.
