Wamen
Wamen takes her artist’s name from an intimate link with her Cameroonian grandmother. Literary, passionate about theatre and poetry, she left Sciences Po to follow her musical vocation. Nourished by jazz, soul, French rap and African sounds, she shapes a music at the crossroads of worlds, between her Cameroonian roots and the Parisian scene. Harassed in her youth, music became a refuge and then a strength. Arriving in Paris in 2016, she confronted her influences with an eclectic scene, developing a singular identity marked by the RnB of the 2000s. Through her universal lyrics, she favours the ‘we’ over the ‘I’, making her art a space for reconciliation.
