THE ELEGANCE OF TIME: Montreux Backstage Portraits

Swiss-Iranian photographer Anoush Abrar has been working in close proximity to the artists of Montreux Jazz Festival for nearly a decade. In the backstage bustle, he often has only a few minutes to capture his portraits – fleeting moments that he transforms into timeless works of art.

Since 1967, musical history has been written at Montreux Jazz Festival, a timeless bubble nestled between lake and mountains Here, the unique closeness between the world’s greatest artists and their audience often leads to rare, sometimes legendary moments. Time is the guiding thread of this book. In Montreux, time seems to stop, dissolve, stretch, or contract. In minutes, days, or years, these pages tell the story of why Montreux remains a festival unlike any other – and perhaps the answer lies in the elegance of time.
