Sélène Saint Aimée
Sélène is a French double bassist, singer, and composer of Caribbean and African descent. She honed her craft in New York alongside internationally renowned musicians such as Steve Coleman, Lonnie Plaxico, and Ron Carter. Her musical identity has evolved through her travels and encounters.
In 2020, she released her debut album, “Mare Undarum.” Hailed by critics, this album earned her a 2021 Victoire du Jazz award in the ‘Revelation’ category. Her second album, “Potomitan,” released in March 2022, has already been highly praised by the
international press.
Sélène particularly enjoys dedicating time to research and her musical studies. She is currently an associate composer with Tropiques Atrium Scène Nationale in Martinique and one of the 2022 recipients of the Villa Albertine residency in New Orleans.
