Samara Joy is establishing herself as one of the most promising voices in contemporary vocal jazz. At the tender age of 24 years old, she has already won five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Jazz Vocal Album for Linger Awhile (2022). Originally from the Bronx, she grew up in a family of gospel musicians before gaining recognition in 2019 by winning the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Her velvety timbre and mature phrasing evoke the great voices of jazz, such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. While embodying the great tradition of vocal jazz, she has taken it towards a subtle modernity, attracting an ever-growing audience through sold-out concerts and tours.
