The winner of thirteen Latin Grammy Awards, Jorge Drexler has recorded fourteen studio albums and performed throughout the world. The Montevideo native has distinguished himself from the very beginning with his minimalist arrangements and poetic writing rich in metaphors. Rooted in both tradition and modernity, he brilliantly mixes Uruguayan folk music, bossa nova and pop. In 2005, he won the Oscar for Best Original Song for Al otro lado del río, from the film Diarios de Motocicleta, about Che Guevara. It was the first Spanish-language song to win in this category. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous artists, including C. Tangana, Shakira and Natalia Lafourcade, who will perform the same evening at the Casino.
