A craftsman of haunted minimalism in his early days, James Blake has deconstructed genres to craft a singular body of work, where electronics interact with R&B, jazz, pop and classical music. A brilliant collaborator, he has left his mark on major albums of the 21st century, from Frank Ocean’s Blonde to Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. and Beyoncé’s Lemonade. Winning two Grammy Awards, the British master craftsman continues to push the boundaries of sound on his sixth album, Playing Robots Into Heaven (2023). Invited to Montreux for the fifth time, James Blake will perform solo piano. A dream he evoked nearly ten years ago, on the occasion of the Festival’s 50th anniversary.
