At 24, James Baker continues to carve out a unique path in the new French music scene. Originally from the Paris suburbs, this self-taught artist shapes a universe at the crossroads of indie pop, alternative rock, electro, and rap. As a songwriter, composer, and performer, he takes ownership of every aspect of his project, from writing and production to his visual identity.

James Baker is more than just a musician: he is a storyteller. His love for cinema runs through his work, giving his tracks a rare narrative and emotional dimension, like scenes from an intimate and sensory film. After several striking projects, he is currently preparing Romy Rose, a conceptual double EP inspired by the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Driven by an alternative aesthetic, this new project blends pop melancholy with electronic flashes, drawing from influences such as Djo, Fontaines D.C., Daft Punk, and The Strokes. Romy Rose explores themes of memory, repression, the desire to erase, and the persistence of emotions, even when one wants to forget them.

Within this labyrinthine musical and visual universe, emotions distort and reference points blur. James Baker questions the mechanisms of denial, the vertigo of love, and fragile identity with raw sensitivity. He subverts codes to better reveal the cracks, offering a work where each track acts as a dreamlike scene—sometimes gentle, sometimes unsettling, but always sincere.
