Some voices strike you from the very first listen — and I Am Roze’s is undeniably one of them. Originally from Louisiana, Roze turned to music after losing everything in the wake of Hurricane Laura in 2020. Homeless at the time, it was during this chaotic period that they were discovered by producer Fred again.., who sampled clips from their Instagram videos on two tracks of his album. Now based in the UK, Roze is working with acclaimed producers who’ve collaborated with artists like Dua Lipa, Burna Boy, and Amy Winehouse. Their recent COLORS session confirms what many already suspect: Roze is one of the most moving and promising voices of their generation.
