Following the success of the recent South African Jazz compilation Chakalaka Jazz on Heavenly Sweetness, Montreux Jazz Festival was eager to have Fred bring those tunes to life! Gilles Peterson at the Worldwide Festival in Sete and Jazz a Vienne also opened their door to the man.
Originally from Lyon, France, Fred is no stranger to the music industry. For the past four decades, from Tokyo to Barcelona, New York to Buenos Aires, he has shared the decks with some of the most renowned DJs, including Jazzanova, Daft Punk, Mr. Scruff, Gilles Peterson, Quantic, Bugz in the Attic, and Dimitri from Paris, to name just a few.
Now based in Cape Town, he runs a record shop and label dedicated to South African music, so you’re guaranteed a rare and unique set straight from the Deep South—like nothing you’ve heard before. Expect an eclectic selection of Jazz, a touch of Funk, and a sprinkle of Kwaito, all delivered with that unmistakable French touch.
His only mission? To leave you with a smile on your face and a happy heart.
