Fafi Abdel Nour
Fafi Abdel Nour finds beauty in the margins and bliss in the in-between. A passionate artist and community builder, he has made it his mission to imagine better futures through musical connectivity and human understanding.
As a first-generation Syrian child growing up in the Netherlands, he struggled to integrate while balancing his Arab heritage and his burgeoning queerness. Often finding himself between two worlds, he strove to preserve his inner pride and identity in a society in which he struggled to recognize himself.
It was in his quest for harmony amidst a life of dissonance that Fafi discovered dance music as an adult. Although this connection with music offered a necessary reprieve, he soon realized that the scene was sorely lacking in queer artists and DJs of color. His queer club nights at OOST (Groningen) were born from this desire to empower marginalized people so they could transcend oppressive mainstream culture.
As a DJ, Fafi captivates dancers with a sense of timelessness and otherworldly joy. His sets distill the liberating essence of house music, embodying a musical era free from the constraints of genre or rules. By dissolving the boundaries between sound, movement, and being, he offers enchanting melodic passages, house-infused body music, and enchanted breakbeats, all melted into a rush of ecstatic sensations.
Oscillating between jubilation and depth with a distinctive narrative sense and technical finesse, Fafi’s selections explore the universe of mystical and evocative house. He draws on music’s fundamental capacity to transform lives, through a deeply personal expression transmitted directly from his soul to the speakers.
Always encouraging us to connect with one another and celebrate our differences, Fafi radiates his own truth and inspires everyone to do the same. Now based in Amsterdam and in demand around the world, he maintains the same mantra, no matter where the music plays: Love is the message.
