Dianne Reeves

A torchbearer of jazz greats like Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington, Detroit-born Dianne Reeves made her breakthrough in 1987 with her spellbinding debut released with Blue Note. The record boasted a dream gathering of jazz icons, including Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, and her cousin George Duke. In 2005, she lent her soaring vocals to the soundtrack of Good Night and Good Luck, earning her a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album. She has come out tops in this category five times in her career—second only to the great Ella Fitzgerald. In 2009, the singer paid tribute to Nina Simone in an unforgettable Montreux concert alongside Angélique Kidjo, Lizz Wright, and Lisa Simone. This summer, Dianne Reeves takes the Festival stage for the eighth time, marking her highly anticipated return after a decade. Whether reinventing jazz standards or lighting up the stage with her fiery scat improvisations, she delivers performances nothing short of breathtaking in their virtuosity and delight.
