Young people from Montreux “On Tour!”

They have chosen to learn music as a group. Their names are Sugar Ripley, Mercure, or Hot To Go. Coached by Germain Umdenstock at the Conservatoire de Montreux-Vevey-Riviera, these groups of children and teenagers are becoming true cultural players in their region, driven by passion and collective creativity. For them, music becomes much more than an art form: it is a tool for personal growth, a space for expression, and a means of self-discovery.

ODYSSEY

Odyssey is a young, evolving rock band. United by a shared passion, its six musicians, aged 16 to 21, met at the Rock Workshops of the Montreux Conservatory. Over time, the band has shaped a strong and personal musical universe, blending deep, ethereal sounds with a touch of darkness, where intensity and sensitivity echo one another. Between atmospheric passages and rawer outbursts, Odyssey offers an immersive experience, driven by sincere energy and clear cohesion. Still a work in progress, the band already asserts a distinct identity, delivering a dark, authentic, and soulful rock sound.

MERCURE

MERCURE is the meeting of five very young musicians with multiple facets and very different styles. Each brings their own touch and desires, all of which fuse into a funky style, tinged with jazz-pop and a resolutely rock foundation. The band composes its own songs or rearranges well-known tracks in the “MERCURE style.” At its core, two brothers—Léo with his self-made guitar and David on drums—took advantage of the Conservatory workshops led by Germain Umdenstock to meet Nolan, the bassist. With this very solid rhythmic foundation, the band expanded by welcoming Eva, a guitarist who styles her own guitar, and Rania, with her enchanting voice. Since then, the band has been multiplying concerts and experiences, including the music video for their first single “Believe” (2024) and an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival on the Superbock stage that same year.
