Her Montreux premiere on 18 July last year will remain etched in the Festival’s history. On the one hand, because her concert – marked by her breathtaking vocal mastery, her rich improvisation and her touching confessions – was immortalised on a live album. On the other hand, because RAYE sang that evening for the first time in front of his Swiss grandfather, originally from Appenzell. Finally, she extended this magical night by joining the jam sessions, where her performances of Summertime and Feeling Good demonstrated her love for jazz. Since then, the seven-time Brit Award winner has continued her rise on the international scene, joining Doja Cat and Lisa on the single Born Again and performing at the Oscars and Grammy Awards. Her return to Montreux, this time as a headliner, was a natural fit.
