Since 1974, George Ivan Morrison has felt at home in Montreux. With twenty Festival appearances to his name, at 72 this Irish artist remains faithful to a monastic rhythm and blues crossed with blues and traditional jazz. A deliberately timeless music that ignores changing fads, buoyed by that extraordinary voice that is the only one truly capable of performing limpid songs steeped in mystical lyricism: “Moondance” and “Into the Mystic”. A private person with a strong character, Van Morrison steadfastly pursues a very personal search through the illumination that he experienced as a child in the middle of a street in East Belfast. A state of grace he has since obstinately dissected record after record: more than forty recorded since the incredible Astral Weeks (1968). The most recent is entitled Versatile (2017). The perfect description!
