Yerai Cortés
Yerai Cortés (Alicante, 1995) belongs to the new generation of artists who are taking flamenco to uncharted and exciting territories. Despite his youth, he already boasts a vast career that has led him to collaborate with artists from a wide range of genres: from innovators and boundary-pushers in flamenco, to musicians from different backgrounds such as Judeline, Floating Points and C. Tangana. With his new show, ‘Guitarra Coral’, the young guitarist manages to expand the limits of flamenco to infinity and beyond. A concert that blurs conceptions of the classical, the traditional and the avant-garde.
Yerai Cortés presents “Guitarra Coral”
Accompanied by a choir of six palmeras, the Alicante-born guitarist is reconfiguring flamenco for the 21st century.
After an accident that prevented him from performing at Sónar last year, Yerai Cortés is finally presenting his revolutionary show ‘Guitarra Coral’ at Sónar 2025. The young guitarist from Alicante has had an incredible year: the subject of C. Tangana’s first award-winning documentary, ‘La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés’, he has played to sold-out audiences all over Spain, including a highly acclaimed concert at Paral-lel 62, promoted by Sónar and the Barcelona Jazz Festival.
Guitarra Coral’ extends flamenco beyond the guitar, with Yerai accompanied by a chorus of six women, the “palmeras”, who add their voices and handclaps to this collective ritual. A flamenco concert that blurs the notions of classical, traditional and avant-garde.
