Yazz Ahmed
Yazz Ahmed is a British-Bahraini trumpet player whose music blurs the lines between jazz and electronic sound design, blending her mixed heritage into what has been described as “psychedelic Arabic jazz.” She has performed worldwide and collaborated with artists like Radiohead, Lee Scratch Perry, and These New Puritans. Her breakthrough came with La Saboteuse (2017), praised globally and featured in several “Best of” lists. Her album Polyhymnia (2019), a suite celebrating inspiring women, won Album of the Year at the Jazz FM Awards and earned her an Ivor Novello Award. Yazz’s work includes commissions for planetariums, remixes with top electronic producers, and innovative solo projects during the pandemic. She continues to challenge conventions, build cultural bridges, and reshape perceptions of women and Middle Eastern artists in jazz.
