Soft Cell

Swiss exclusivity

Known for their huge hit ‘Tainted Love’, Soft Cell are an iconic band on the British new wave scene of the eighties. Formed by Marc Almond and David Ball in 1978, the Leeds duo quickly made a name for themselves with their unique fusion of electronic music and dark, provocative lyrics. Inspired by David Bowie and Marc Bolan (T-Rex), the duo caused a stir on Top of the Pops in 1981, donning black outfits complete with studded bracelets and eyeliner. Their debut album, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, is considered a monument of synth pop (a recent Pitchfork review gave it an 8.5 out of 10). As for ‘Tainted Love’, it has racked up 750 million streams on Spotify, a sign that it remains a timeless dancefloor classic.
