Shobee (real name Chouaib Ribati) is a Moroccan artist, musician, songwriter and composer born in 1991. He is best known for his work in the Moroccan rap genre, where he has been active for over 10 years.
At the turn of the 2010s, he was a pioneer in the reinvention and modernisation of the country’s rap codes, and a factor in the empowerment and emancipation of young Moroccans in the wake of the Arab Spring.
His success as part of the duo Shayfeen and then the NAAR collective first gave him an influence on the Moroccan rap scene, then a reputation that has spread beyond the country’s borders. His collaborations with international artists (Laylow, Lomepal, Amir Obè) and his European tour of France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland as part of the NAAR project laid the foundations for the export of Moroccan rap to Europe. HOWLS is his first solo project.
