Originally from a small village near Leicester, Sekou grew up immersed in gospel and pop, drawing inspiration from giants such as Prince and Whitney Houston. While his talent first found an audience in church, he soon realised Leicester was not fertile ground for his ambitions. He moved to London, where he was accepted into a major music school, and events quickly gathered pace: a BBC talent showcase at Glastonbury, support slots for John Legend, collaborations with Justin Bieber, and a nomination for the BRIT Awards’ Rising Star category.
