From a young age, Sammy has been around music. His parents took him to jazz and classical concerts, and even to the opera from now and then – back then, he hated it! He also played the piano and the guitar as a kid and although it never flourished, it helped him get in touch with his musical side.
With time he developed his own taste and went through different phases, as every teeanger/young adult does. Punk, Ska, Reggae, Hip-Hop, Rap and later also Drum ‘n Bass, Techno and other electronic styles all played part in developing his musical taste.
In his twenties Sammy was already djing in some of Zurichs most renowned clubs and was part of the city’s scene. His interest in music grew exponentially and so did his record collection.
Remember how back in the days he hated going to the concerts his parents took him? Well, in his late twenties all of that started to make sense and come back to him – his horizon was about to expand immensely.
He started to get more and more in touch with the music his parents used to listen to and also started digging more and more into those genres. Jazz, funk, folk, disco, afro, latin, tropical and all kinds of different sounds suddenly seemed to interest him more than what he was used to play in the clubs.
Now, Sammy is part of a group of selectors, bringing a plethora of sounds to Zurich‘s music scene. Ranging from Jazz to House, Sammy’s DJ-sets are as diverse as life itself. As he selects the music for his sets, he always packs all over the place and doesn’t shy aways to take some unexpected left turns!
