Daughter of musicians, Rita Payés is one of the emerging talents of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, the nucleus from which some of the most promising young musicians on the jazz scene have emerged, such as Andrea Motis, Èlia Bastida and Magalí Datzira. She made her debut in the recording world with Joan Chamorro, her mentor, when the trombonist published Imagina (Self-released, 2019). Later, with her first solo work, Como la piel, (Self-released, 2021), the artist began her international projection. An album built from her own songs, with jazz predominating, and with influences from bolero, bossa nova, classical and popular music. Songs like “Algo contigo” are on their way to 52M plays on Spotify and the video “Nunca vas a comprender” is close to 7M plays on YouTube, which add up to her more than 1.3M monthly listeners.
