PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION OF UNIQUE MOMENTS AT THE MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL
Who would have thought back in 1967 that the Montreux Jazz Festival would become a major international music event and write a few pages of history? How is it that so many unique moments have taken place in this small town in the canton of Vaud?
Claude Nobs, the Festival’s founder, was passionate about music and jazz. His real dream was to bring together the musicians he admired, to introduce them to the public and to offer everyone a good time. And what better setting than the Vaud Riviera to share some great days out in July?
Thanks to Claude’s warm welcome and the impressive setting of Lake Geneva, vineyards and mountains, the Montreux Jazz Festival quickly became a must-see event for artists from all over the world. Add to this an inordinate passion for music and the organiser’s folie de grandeur, and the Festival has become a place where artists can meet up, create and step out of their comfort zones.
Throughout its 57-year history, the Festival has witnessed some unique and even historic moments. It has served as a springboard for the great stars of today, and as a place for unique experimentation. Many artists have taken advantage of the freedom offered to them at Montreux to go beyond what the public expected of them. And what would the Montreux Jazz Festival be without its legendary jam sessions? Every evening, this stage offers unique moments where artists meet and play for an audience of happy night owls.
