Dionne Warwick

Swiss exclusivity

This summer, the legendary Dionne Warwick finally joins the pantheon of Montreux Jazz Festival divas. After Aretha Franklin, she is the second most charted vocalist of the 20th century. Born into a famous family of gospel singers, Dionne Warwick became a true icon in the 1960s. She scored a string of hits, composed by the equally legendary Burt Bacharach, who saw the embodiment of his songs in her. She made a major comeback in the 1980s, inviting Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight to guest on ‘That’s What Friends Are For’, and winning several Grammy Awards. Her subtle voice is equally at home in pop, soul and R&B. Dionne Warwick’s career has spanned the decades and inspired countless artists, including her cousin, Whitney Houston. Today, her influence remains considerable. One of the most streamed tracks of 2023, ‘Paint the Town Red’ by Doja Cat, revisits a Dionne Warwick classic: the famous ‘Walk on By’, released exactly sixty years ago!
