Guitarist, producer and composer Cory Wong made his name in Minneapolis in the early 2010s during wild jam sessions with Prince’s rhythm section. It was there that he met the band Vulpeck, becoming a frequent collaborator and band member. Equipped with his trusty Stratocaster (he now has his own signature model), Cory Wong has perfected the art of instrumental funk. His right hand – perhaps the most elastic in the world – is capable of relentlessly delivering the most breathtaking grooves. Without words, but with a captivating, offbeat stage presence, Cory Wong takes us through all kinds of emotions, incorporating rock, jazz and fusion influences along the way. At Montreux, he will be opening for Nile Rodgers. A closing evening that promises to be epic, with two iconic guitarists who have each left their mark on funk music.
