Ash Lauryn sits between two worlds, with a foundation of old-school house-head and digital-age suavity, combining her skills as a DJ, writer, curator and radio host to champion black dance music. Having discovered her passion for music in her hometown of Detroit, she was inspired by NDATL legend Kai Alce and Vicki Powell to start deejaying in Atlanta, where she currently resides. After noticing the lack of representation of Black youth in electronic music, Ash started her blog Underground and Black, which has since grown into a large platform covering her annual Movement Festival party, her monthly NTS show, and podcast of the same name. 

Sa passion pour la musique l’a menée à travers le monde, de ses résidences à Atlanta, Expressions et Deep South, à des concerts au Nowadays à New York, au Panorama Bar à Berlin et au Printworks à Londres. Elle a joué avec les musiciens Joe Claussell et Moodymann et dans des festivals comme Afropunk, Dimensions et Flow Festival Helsinki. Ses écrits sont parus dans The Face Magazine, Mixmag et Resident Advisor, et elle a récemment été rédactrice invitée du magazine en ligne Beatport. Elle a également interviewé les légendes de la musique électronique Robert Hood et Honey Dijon et a récemment organisé un line-up pour le Boiler Room Festival de New York qui comprenait des artistes comme Ron Trent, Analog Soul et Kyle Hall. 

Dernièrement, Ash a été nominée pour le titre de DJ de l’année aux Bembe DJ Awards et a participé à la plateforme “Imaginary TV” SS21 d’Off-White. Elle travaille actuellement sur la production musicale et a récemment sorti son premier EP solo intitulé Truth, coproduit avec Stefan Ringer en septembre 2021.
