Afriqua is a genre-defying artist blending classical training, hip-hop roots, and electronic music into bold, dancefloor-ready tracks. His latest EP, MAXI SINGLE, draws from ’80s Black electronic music and Miami bass, delivering a retro-futuristic sound that’s both personal and universal. Starting piano at a young age, he quickly embraced turntables and production, becoming the youngest to place in a DMC DJ competition. After being expelled from the Royal Academy of Music, he found his voice in Berlin’s underground scene. His debut LP Colored and singles like Always established him as a rising star. Signed to CORE Records, he’s performed at MUTEK Montreal, DC-10, and Berghain, while also writing the Principles of Black Music series for Ableton. With MAXI SINGLE, Afriqua pushes sonic boundaries once again.
