GUITARES HEROÏNES; Novatrices et influentes

GUITARES HEROÏNES; Novatrices et influentes

By Annie Coste, author of the book “Les femmes musiciennes sont dangereuses” (Women Musicians Are Dangerous) Editions Flammarion 2023

One of the most gendered instruments in music, the guitar concentrates an arsenal of masculine clichés: power, virtuosity, demonstration, heroism. A tenacious mythology that has erased and minimized the role of women in this field. Traversing eras and musical styles, this presentation invites us to shake up prejudices by discovering those who transgressed prohibitions, defied conventions, to invent techniques and open new musical paths. Virtuosos, sonic explorers, accomplished creators, highly courageous and often committed, female guitarists have truly contributed to shaping the history of the guitar.
