MONTREUX VILLE CRÉATIVE: Miles Davis - Live at Montreux 1989

MONTREUX VILLE CRÉATIVE: Miles Davis – Live at Montreux 1989

A major figure in the history of the Montreux Jazz Festival, Miles Davis maintained an exceptional artistic relationship with Montreux for over twenty years. From his electric concerts of the 1970s to his final appearances in the early 1990s, the artist found in Montreux a privileged space for experimentation, freedom, and musical renewal.

This workshop-screening, presented by the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation, offers a chance to rediscover the concert Miles Davis — Live at Montreux 1989, through a screening with commentary by Marcus Miller, a close friend and key collaborator of the trumpeter during this pivotal period of his career.

Through audiovisual archives, personal recollections, and musical analysis, Marcus Miller will explore Miles Davis’s artistic personality, his connection to Montreux, and the creative dynamics that characterized this era. The event will also address the Festival’s importance in the history of contemporary jazz and the fundamental role played by Claude Nobs in the special relationship between Miles Davis and Montreux.
