Maryss
Maryss, a Swiss singer, songwriter, and composer of Rwandan origin, sings in French, English, and Kinyarwanda, drawing inspiration from Anglo-Saxon folk-soul-blues. Among her early influences, she readily cites Tracy Chapman, Macy Gray, Imany, Sona Jobarteh, Ibeyi, Rokia Traoré, and Kolinga. Maryss is currently preparing a brand-new 10-track album, scheduled for release in early 2026. She has released several singles and albums, most notably her latest EP, “Inkomoko,” in November 2023.
For this project, the artist offers four new compositions in English and Kinyarwanda: Inkomoko, I can’t call you, Change your life, and Who is this Guy. A new music video for the track “Who is this Guy” was released on January 26, 2024. In these new songs, Maryss shares her personal experiences and her perspective on human relationships. These compositions, maintaining her signature folk-blues-soul style, are elevated by her warm and enveloping voice, which transports the listener with emotion through magnificent harmonies and arrangements. Driven by percussion, kora, and brass, Maryss’s music—infused with African sonorities—captivates all generations; humming along and dancing are staples of every concert. Currently, the “Inkomoko” EP and its music video are available on all major online platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and YouTube).
