I feel like I’m just starting out, yet I’ve been living in a van for 15 years for my music. Originally from Merimbula, I began by busking at markets before heading off, after high school, to surf and play across Australia. After winning the Byron Bluesfest busking competition, I eventually traveled to Japan and Europe. I now have three vans on different continents to reach festivals all over the world.
A pivotal friendship with Billy Bragg taught me about longevity. He took me on tour for a year, all the way to Glastonbury. My track “Window to the Sky” later marked a turning point: platinum in Australia, gold in Germany, and 50 million streams. Today, I am my own manager, proud to be in control of my journey and my independence.
Inspired by a dawn creative ritual, I released the album “Dawn Sounds” in 2023. As an independent artist, I’ve sold 12,000 tickets and played 149 concerts around the globe. I am writing to you today from my van on the Eyre Peninsula, Australia. My new album, “It’s Lovely To Have You Here,” will be released on October 11, and I can’t wait to take it on the road around the world. The adventure is only just beginning.
