From Göttingen to Berlin and now beyond, the German DJ and producer has placed melody at the very heart of electronic music since he came onto the scene in 2015. His debut album Breathing (2019) struck a fine balance between euphoric club energy and introspective, meditative moods. A mesmerising live performance filmed in a hot-air balloon high above Cappadocia soon followed, introducing his music to a global audience. With nearly a billion streams to his name and a 200-date tour behind him, the head of the label Ton Töpferei briefly stepped back to focus on Bloom (2024), a glowing third album released on Ninja Tune. The result is a confident shift in direction — less dancefloor-driven, more refined — moving between indie pop influences and cinematic soundscapes reminiscent of Brian Eno.
