Montreux Ville Créative: 50 Years of the Mountain Studio (Fr-En)

In 1975, the Mountain Studio was inaugurated in the brand new Casino de Montreux, and immediately became a focal point for recording Jazz Festival concerts. But the studio was not confined to the live scene: thanks to its state-of-the-art technical equipment, many artists turned to it to make studio albums: the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, David Bowie, Marvin Gaye, Iggy Pop and Chris Rea, to name but a few.
That said, no band has had a greater influence on the identity of the venue than Queen, who made it their creative home when they bought it in 1979. After more than 25 years of activity under the direction of David Richard, the British band’s engineer and producer, Mountain Studios has established itself as a veritable icon, engraved in the memory of the festival, Montreux and the music world.
