Virtuoso trumpet player, daring composer, and true showman, Ibrahim Maalouf creates a unique blend of jazz, rock, classical and Arabic music. This Lebanese musician looks to the past and the future, Occident and Orient, exploring mixtures of sound with his 4-valve trumpet, spreading quarter tones and oriental melodies. He got noticed working with Sting, Matthieu Chédid and Amadou & Mariam. He became popular in 2014 when he became the first person to win an award at the Victoires de la Musique for an entirely instrumental album. His latest disk, Red & Black Light, combines jazz, pop and electro, with powerful rock arrangements.
