At the Lab, SON LUX will kick off the evening of 10 July before Other Lives and Ásgeir. And before the return of Simply Red, the lineup for the heartfelt tribute to Claude Nobs offered by Quincy Jones in Montreux brings together major talents from yesterday and today: PATTI AUSTIN, AL JARREAU, JON BATISTE, GRACE, RASHIDA JONES, SUNNY LEVINE, ALFREDO RODRIGUEZ and JACOB COLLIER.

HERBIE HANCOCK is the artist who has been invited the most times to the Festival, for which he has become a veritable ambassador. He is one of the most influential pianists in the history of jazz, and at 76 remains one of the most active of all musical legends.The godfather of International Jazz Day, which occurs on 30 April, is returning for the 37th time to Montreux on 3 July, just after the trio Scofield Mehldau Guiliana and the performance by John McLaughlin & 4th Dimension. Holder of 14 Grammy Awards and recognized for his immense talents in improvisation and his unique harmonic approach, Herbie Hancock will be at the 50th edition of the Festival for an amazing evening along with some special musical friends. Plan to share an unforgettable moment of meaningful exchanges!
SON LUX 10 JULY AT THE LAB
SON LUX is cosmic American artist Ryan Lott. Named Best New Artist by NPR’s prestigious All Songs Considered for his 2008 début album, he has since released four more LPs with an addictive post-rock fingerprint. Son Lux is a prolific artist who regularly works in advertising, composes film soundtracks, and is part of the Sisyphus Project with Serengeti and Sufjan Stevens. He has worked with Lourde, Boots, and My Brightest Diamond, and in 2015 he released the superb Bones, featuring hit singles “Change Is Everything” and “Undone”. This inventive artist promises an exceptional live performance at the Lab with his raging, visceral sound.
FULL LINEUP FOR QUINCY JONES’ TRIBUTE CONCERT EVENT ON 8 JULY
Who better than the “American brother” Quincy Jones to present and orchestrate a unique soirée celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Festival? The legendary American producer and composer is offering an encounter between some of the most gifted artists of the new generation and major music figures, faithful friends of the Festival for decades. For the occasion, all of these artists will be accompanied the famous Pepe Lienhard Big Band which has notably played for Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, and Shirley Bassey… Quincy Jones has invited some of the most recognizable voices from the history of the Festival, including PATTI AUSTIN and AL JARREAU, and combined them with a star of the new generation, his protégé, piano and melodica virtuoso JON BATISTE, a scion of the illustrious New Orleans Batiste family. This superb lineup will also feature RASHIDA JONES, Quincy’s daughter, and SUNNY LEVINE, his grandson, who is a popular California producer. Other performers include GRACE, a young pearl of pop from Down Under whose first EP, Memo, is being produced by Jones, and who is someone you need to keep a close eye on. Rounding out the party are prodigious Cuban pianist ALFREDO RODRIGUEZ and talented newcomer JACOB COLLIER.
