The Festival has been a pioneer in all that concerns the spirit of Rio since the get-go, always attaching great importance to Brazilian music. Over the years, all the biggest names in the genre have given memorable concerts late into the night at Montreux. Marco Mazzola has brought together a star-studded set-up of Brasilian artists—certainly the most fabulous line-up offered to the Montreux audience up until now. SUNDAY 10 JULY AN EXCEPTIONNAL BRAZILIAN NIGHT!
On the occasion of the 50th edition of the Festival, and in homage to its late founder Claude Nobs, there will be a one-off evening with a multi-generational group of truly exceptional artists. Singer and multi-instrumentalist Ana Carolina will be sharing the stage with the queen of forró Elba Ramalho, the ambassador of choro Hamilton de Holanda with his famous bandolim, and one of the most eminent Brazilian pop musicians, the incredible Ivan Lins who has composed for the biggest names in jazz and recorded almost 40 albums since 1970. The great João Bosco, emblematic singer, figurehead of fusion and composer Elis Regina, will be joining her daughter Maria Rita who has won eight Latin Grammy Awards. The king of samba Martinho da Vila, who has an impressive discography and a career spanning 50 years, and Vanessa da Mata, a Brazilian phenomenon discovered in 2009 thanks to her duo Boa Sorte/Good Luck with Ben Harper, will be completing the line-up, which is100% auriverde. The Stravinksi is getting ready to party like never before to the rhythms of Brazil!
SATURDAY 9 JULY BRAZIL BOAT – SAMBA ON LAKE GENEVA
Several times during the Festival, crazily animated boats weigh anchor in the afternoon to get the public swaying and dancing on the lake. Live Salsa, Jazz, Blues, or Samba – a unique way to dive even deeper into the idyllic Montreux setting.
The Brazil Boat lineup features Diana Miranda, Valeria Eva, Napalma, Josildo Sà, Dj Livia and Batucada Som Brasil.
