Forget lace, romance, and positivity! Formerly a videographer and author of bizarre creations posted on YouTube, rapper Marius Listhrop, author of the dizzying single “Heart Attack” (2017) is now the prophet of a coming apocalypse. Furious and full of despair, fond of Japanese and goth aesthetics, this Birmingham resident serves up industrial-inflected hip-hop which, like in the work of XXXtentacion and Lil Uzi Vert, declares frankly that there is no future. Positioned somewhere in between Rage Against The Machine, Deftones, and Eminem, and obsessively replacing the letter ‘o’ with an ‘x’, (Scarlxrd is pronounced ‘Scarlord’), this UK artist will bring to Montreux, along with his protective face mask, a transcendental ‘rapcore’ that is sure to become more prominent over the next few years. Be afraid – be very afraid!
