The tropical sound of Nicola Cruz struck a chord in Montreux when he performed at Lisztomania two years ago. Born in France to Ecuadorian parents, this producer, musician, and DJ explores the rich artistic heritage of his native country. After collaborating with Nicolas Jaar on his label Clown & Sunset and recording his first album Prender El Alma, this percussionist turned DJ pursued his intense exploration of ancestral rhythms and hypnotic soundscapes on Siku. Released early this year, the album is still marked by a South American influence, but is brilliantly unpredictable, blending samba, cumbia, and rhythms from Africa, India, and the Andes. Expect a fascinating voyage.
