Khruangbin means ‘airplane’ in Thai. And yet, this trio adored by Iggy Pop and Bonobo is in fact 100% Texan. It was in an old, isolated farm in that state that Khruangbin fashioned their cosmopolitan identity, alternating Thai funk, Eastern psychedelic music, surf rock, soul, and dub. The common denominator of this crazy exploration of genres? A seductive blend of groove and atmospheric soundscapes, served up by a fundamental magic formula: a bass, a guitar, a drum set. In parallel with the albums The Universe Smiles Upon You (2015) and Con Todo El Mundo (2018) that are killing it on streaming platforms, the band regularly publishes playlists on themes related to musical voyages. On board their unique airplane, these three musicians explore with a singular passion the sounds of Mumbai, Lagos, Istanbul, and Kingston.
