Hugh Coltman was born in Britain but lives in France. He was the leader of blues-rock group The Hoax, then morphed into a folk-pop songwriter before exploring jazz heritage in his forties. It was a new chapter in the adventures of an artist who is keen to break boundaries, formats and conventions. After paying tribute to Nat King Cole (Shadows, Songs of Nat King Cole) and B.B. King (Recession Blues, A Tribute to B.B. King), Hugh Coltman takes us to the noisy streets of New Orleans. His warm journeyman’s voice expresses emotion against a backdrop of dancing drums and brass full of soul. It's a musical and existential journey somewhere between a confessional and the big stage, from an artist at the height of his creativity.
