As a child, Jacob Salem served the Mogho Naaba, the highest traditional authority of the Mossi kingdom of Burkina Faso. He discovered blues, soul, and rock as a teenager, and played guitar in secret rather than concentrating on the strict curriculum for royal servants. He left the royal court at 19 and quickly made his mark on stage. At a Ouagadougou jam session in 2013 he met André “Somkieta” Courbat, an Anglo-Swiss guitarist, in what was a turning point for both artists. And the beginning of a beautiful human adventure.
