Paolo Conte was born in 1937, in Asti, Piedmont. Starting in the 1960s, he was both a singer and a lawyer. This baritone star of the bar knew people in the world of variety. When he wrote “La Coppia Più Bella Del Mondo” for Adriano Celentano, its success encouraged him to persevere. He released his eponymous album in 1974. The Italians fell in love with his elegant, grainy voice, his sophistication and his refined orchestrations. His career took an international turn in 1979, with the extremely successful album Un Gelato Al Limon. Paolo Conte, who played the Blue Note Club in New York had become an international star. Since the 1990s, this composer has continued with his incredible mix of popular romance, jazz and musicals. In 2016, he composed his first purely instrumental album, the breathtaking Amazing Game. He has been awarded honorary doctorates by numerous universities, he has received many prizes in Italy and he has been named Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France. And he still lives in Asti.
