Mahalia was only 13 when she signed with a major label in 2013. Inspired by her parents, both singers, she played guitar and was already writing her own songs. There were also the artists often heard at her home: Lauryn Hill, Gil Scott-Heron, D'Angelo... Four years and several mixtapes later, this young Leicestershire native is ready to take on the world. In 2017 she unveiled her first official single, “Sober”, which adroitly melds soul, R&B and hip-hop. The acoustic version recorded a bit later reveals even more clearly the natural strength of her melodies, the freshness of her voice, and the implacable rhythm of her flow. After working with London rapper Little Simz on the single “Proud of Me”, she is about to release an album with Nineteen85 and Supa Dup, who have produced for Drake and Bruno Mars, among others...You’ll want to keep an eye out!
