La Tène collects, listens to and investigates folk melodies from far-flung places in the Alps, the Jura region or the mountains of Auvergne. Traditional music is viewed as an element of composition of its own – they reimagine it with repetition, continuous sounds, and electronica. La Tène compose their own space-time, burning barriers between past and present, and traditional and contemporary. The buzzing trio is Alexis Degrenier on the hurdy-gurdy, Cyril Bondi on percussion and Laurent Peter (aka d’incise) on the Indian harmonium and electronics. Degrenier is a French composer specializing in traditional music, who played with the Minisym ensemble, focusing on the music of Moondog. Cyril Bondi and d’incise are key figures on the Swiss musical improvisation and experimental scene. During their concert, the stones of the Château de Chillon will be resonating with ancient sounds and rhythms that may have been played there before.
