The indie-folk wasn’t the same without the Fleet Foxes. We reluctantly left them on the celestial harmonies of “Grown Ocean”, the last track on the amazing Helplessness Blues, which came out in 2011. Over the past six years, the musicians have evolved with various solo projects, other groups and even university studies for singer Robin Pecknold. They released a single at the beginning of the year, “Third of May / Ōdaigahara”, which promises a fascinating return. Nine kaleidoscopic minutes of soaring choirs and epic crescendos take us back to the highlights of the Seattle Foxes’ music. We’re back in their bucolic universe with music that weaves amazing subtlety, melancholy, chaos, contemplation and exaltation. It’s a brilliant comeback.
