This is one of that artists our programming agents are really in love with. Milan pianist Federico Albanese will unfurl his enchanting universe in the intimate surroundings of the Montreux Palace. His latest album, The Blue Hour, is stunningly and dreamily beautiful, with melancholy-tinged compositions featuring fluid and haunting melodies. In the words of its creator, the eponymous ‘blue hour’ is that “moment of the day when opposites are so close they almost touch. An undefined world, between light and darkness, where everything is uncertain.” His minimalist arpeggios melt into an atmospheric mist composed of multiple layers of cello, synthesizer, and infinite guitar notes, delicately punctuated by electronic effects. Before creating this twilight gem, this Italian artist made his mark on film soundtracks and in a duo with Jessica Einaudi, grand-daughter of a certain Ludovico Einaudi.
