One voyage can change everything. Born in a little village north of London, Charlie Cunningham tried to find himself musically on the stages in Oxford, guitar on his arm. Not satisfied with his skills, he abruptly decided to leave for Seville. He stayed there two years, during which he developed a percussive guitar play style inspired by the rhythmic virtuosity of Flamenco. The delicate, airy music of Charlie Cunningham then became a savvy mix of folk sensibility, pop melodies, and Spanish arpeggios. After three EPs, he was discovered by the owner of the Dumont Dumont label, who also worked with José Gonzales and RY X. Early 2017 saw the unveiling of the album Lines, an ethereal production with enfolding reverb. Charlie Cunningham’s honest writing and weightless voice will have the public at the Lab shivering.
